We are so excited to begin offering training in our Jonesboro location! Whether it’s refresher work from previous training or learning totally new skills, “school” can go a long way in forming stronger bonds with your dog and giving them brain work most dogs love.
Our Training Philosophy
Our philosophy starts with asking the dogs first to be in the right state of mind – we believe that dogs can’t learn and retain without proper outlets for their physical energy. Think about human kids – there’s a reason why they have recess throughout the day and even more reasons why play is part of the learning itself. Dogs can be very similar, especially the younger pups or high energy breeds. Once they’ve been able to run out some of their physical energy, they’re much more ready to work with that mental energy!
Working with dogs who are at HH to play has so many benefits – chief among those is the positive association they already have with the environment – this is where they come to have fun, so learning must be fun too!
Our goal is to reward success and avoid speed bumps – we do this by learning about your dog’s favorite things and using them to encourage those success behaviors. Your dog also needs YOU to be part of the process – all our programs include parental involvement.
To set up an initial consultation, use this form to tell us a bit about your needs and goals for training. Once received, our trainer will reach out to you to discuss program options, expectations, and timelines. In the meantime, contact us at 870-938-0138 if you have any questions.
Tyler Hurst has been a fixture at HH for over 7 years. What started out as a part-time gig with school has finally turned into a career (after much begging and pleading from the bosses!) and we could not be happier about it. Training is part of who Tyler is – he completed a Bachelors in Exercise Science from ASU in 2021, and has spent many years training humans in the gym. He is a born natural leader with both dogs and people, having become a Supervisor at HH after just a year with the company, and Assistant Manager in 2024. He is best known at HH for being the guy who always shows up, who is always fair, and who has all the dad jokes (despite not having human children yet)!
Tyler began considering dog training sessions as just a simple add-on for the pups staying with us during sleepovers, but soon evolved into a full-blown career possibility. He has been working diligently toward his CPDT certification and has already logged over 375 hours of field work, with more being added on every day.
As a trainer, we are excited for Tyler to be able to work with dogs who already know him from his time in pack, and we’re even more excited to see him help teach their parents how to carry the skills into permanent habits. Tyler has always taken the time to really get to know the dogs who come to play at HH, and he believes that is also critical to a successful training session. “Coach T” is ready!
